Actress Kajol has something to be happy about apart from her film career. She has been voted Bollywood’s favourite daughter-in-law in a poll conducted by a popular matrimonial site.

250,000 women participated in the poll, which was conducted as part of the International Women's Day celebrations on March 8, and Kajol was voted the favourite bahu with 43.08 percent votes. She beat celebrities like Aishwarya Bachchan, Gauri Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Malaika Arora, Twinkle Khanna and Kiran Rao in the poll. Kajol, who is married to actor Ajay Devgn for 11 years now, has been known for her commitment to her family in spite of her busy schedule.

London, March 6: Shilpa Shetty has signed a letter published in the Guardian newspaper today urging the BBC to reconsider its decision to close its Asian Network, a national digital radio station with a high bhangra and Bollywood content.

In the letter, “BBC Asian Network is a vital platform”, the actress has been joined by more than 100 people, mostly actors, DJs and cultural activists, and also a few politicians who say they have written “to express our profound shock at the BBC director-general Mark Thompson’s proposals to close down the BBC Asian Network as a national station”. The BBC intends to shut the network, perhaps by the end of next year, because of a 20 per cent decline in its audience and also because it feels the cost, £12.1 million in 2008-2009, is simply too high.

Actor Neena Gupta’s daughter Masaba launched her own label and line Kattran by Masaba. Her designs had created sufficient buzz even before her official debut. A thundering applause and tonnes of praise later, Masaba now retails her line in eight stores across the country. “Aza and Zoya in Mumbai and Delhi, Fuel in Mumbai and Nautanki in Ahmedabad are a few of the stores where my designs retail,” says Masaba. Bollywood fan following She has her fair share of fan following among B-towners too. “Ila and Ishita Arun among others have taken a liking to my designs. My mom wears them all the time too,” says the young designer, adding that she hasn’t approached any celebrity to flaunt her creations at events. “All of them have picked my designs from stores on their own,” she beams admitting that when Bollywood celebrities are seen wearing a particular design, it becomes a trend that is widely followed by the youth.
