The NCPA has been host to some colourful and distinguished events in the past, but none so high on octane and blazing with glamour as the Pantaloons Femina Miss India 2010.
Eighteen Indian beauties competed elegantly but fiercely on Friday evening for the top three slots of the most popular beauty pageant of the country. And they were judged by an eminent jury that included three women who could have been on stage themselves â Shilpa Shetty, Sania Mirza and Ritu Beri, in the strong and silent company of Chetan Bhagat, Kunal Kapoor, Vijender Singh and Anurag Basu. At the end of an entertaining evening, when the applause had died down, the three winners were left standing in a new spotlight that will now follow them places... as it did Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and Lara Dutta, to name just three former Miss Indias who used the beauty pageant as a launching pad for hugely successful careers in Bollywood.
Among the cityâs celebs witnessing the glittering event unfolding live on the stage, were Bollywood filmmakers Madhur Bhandarkar and Vipul Amrutlal Shah, both of whom are associated with the PFMI 2010 and have shortlisted six contestants as promising talent for their forthcoming films. These lucky girls will undergo further auditions and two among them will be crowned Pantaloons Femina Miss India 2010 Bollywood Divas and launched in films by Madhur and Vipul.
