The story is based on a frail, landless Dasrath who gets hold of a chisel and a hammer and decides to change the face of his village, Gehol Ghati, nestled in the rocky hills of Gaya. He tear opens a 300-feet high hill to create a 600 feet long passage to Wazirganj. For many years, the Mushahars took a 54 km detour to Wazirganj. But Dasrath becomes determined to conquer the hill after he lost his wife to tuberculosis as he could not reach her to the nearby hospital in Wazirganj on time. He shifted his hut close to the hill so he could work all day and night, chipping away for the next 22 years, little by little. The passage reduced the distance to Wazirgunj from 54 km to seven kilometers.
